Data Protection Server - More Information
Data Protection Server Advantages
Bare-Metal Recovery
With bare metal recovery, you can restore servers directly from disk-based backup. Unlike traditional backup software, there is no need to first partition your drive and install the operating system.
Low Resource Utilization and High Performance
Sector-based backups increase throughput and reduce overhead. Servers can be fully operational with minimal performance impact during backups. These backups typically can be performed anytime – even on busy servers.
Small Backup Windows
Only changed-disk sectors are copied between backups. You can now complete incremental backups in just a few minutes.
Open File Backups
Data Protection Server includes support for backing up open files. No third-party software is required.
Snapshots
Data Protection Server provides consistent point-in-time, system-wide backup images.
Near-Continuous Backups
During normal server operations, the R1Soft CDP Agent retains a journal of disk changes. Incremental backups know which sectors on the disk have changed before the backup starts. This eliminates the need for file-by-file or block-by-block comparisons for every backup.
Remote Administration
Software can be completely controlled off-site using a Web-based interface.
End-to-end Strong Encryption
Using RSA keys, data is continuously encrypted while in storage and during network transmission. Decryption during a restore is possible only when the encryption key holder enters their passphrase.
Data Integrity
During backup and restore, data is verified using MD5 checksums.
